Jean Delores Adams Stoppelmoor, 87, Independence, Mo., passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, at Independence Regional Health Center.

Jean was born on a farm near Webster City, Iowa, June 14, 1919. She attended country schools through the eighth grade and graduated from Lincoln High School, Webster City. She married Floyd Stoppelmoor in 1938. Floyd worked for his father on a farm. The couple moved to Cameron, Mo., in 1950, where they ran a country filling station. In 1955, they moved to Independence. Through the years, Jean worked for Montgomery Ward, Macy's and Sears, Roebuck & Co. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Stoppelmoor, on Dec. 31, 1999, and a grandson, Bradley Dean Stoppelmoor, on Oct. 2, 1988.

Jean is survived by four sons, three daughters, nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and one sister, Gwen Neese of Webster City.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel, Independence, (816) 252-8900. Burial will be in Mount Washington Forever Cemetery, Independence. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the chapel.
