"Alvin Fodness Funeral services were held Tuesday, Apr. 1 at West Prairie Lutheran Church for Alvin N. Fodness, who died on Thursday, Mar. 27, 2008 at the age of 102 years, 8 months, and 11 days.

Rev. Erika Lehmann officiated during the service. Special music was provided by Rev. Lehmann, Larry Poppens and Helen Sweeter. Interment was in the West Prairie Lutheran Cemetery, Lennox, SD.

Pallbearers included Craig Ament, Brad Fodness, Craig Fodness, Mike Fodness, Kevin Larson and Stan Petersen.

Alvin N. Fodness, son of Gilbert and Clara (Hanson) Fodness, was born July 16, 1905 on a farm in Lincoln County. He grew up on a farm near Lennox, SD and attended the Nelson School District. Alvin farmed in the Lennox area for a number ofyears. He married Olga Weeg on September 22, 1926. The couple lived on their farm near Lennox until 1968 when they moved into Lennox. In Lennox, Alvin worked at Lennox Lanes bowling alley for a number of years doing everything fromcashier to maintenance around the building. He also drove bus for the Lennox School District after he retired. Olga passed away in April of 1988. Alvin remained in his home in Lennox until recently when he moved to the Lennox GoodSamaritan Center.

In his free time, Alvin enjoyed fishing with friends and planting trees. He also loved to spend time with his family. He was a loving father, a wonderful grandfather and great friend to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.

Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Duane (Audrey) Fodness, Lennox, SD, Delores (Lowell) Larson, Sioux Falls, and Darrel (Jan) Fodness, Henderson, NV; 6 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Olga; 4 brothers and sisters; and a grandson, Scott.
