'... Mary Phillips Sex: F Birth: 10 SEP 1877 in Hadley, Michigan Death: 17 NOV 1951 in Millington, Michigan (30 grandkids & 12 great grandkids) Note: PHILLIPS-MCNIEL I can't find George McNiel (& various spellings) in the 1920 Census.

However, I think I found Mary McNEAL in the 1930 Census:

Vienna Twp., Genesee Co., MI Mary A. McNEAL, widowed, age 52, born Michigan; parents born Michigan aged 20 years at first marriage Oris L., son, 21 years, single, born Michigan

(SSDEATH INDEX: b. Mar 28, 1909; died March 1981, Michigan)

Byron C., son, 19 years, born Michigan

(SSDEATH INDEX: Byron McNIEL, born 3/5/1911; d. Aug 1977, Michigan)

Melvin T., son, 12 years, born Michigan

(SS DEATH INDEX: No Melvin born ca. 1913, however, a MELVIN T. McNIEL born Aug 6, 1951; died 4/28/1994, Michigan)

Sylvester J., son, 12 years, born Michigan

(SS DEATH INDEX: no Sylvester McNiel)

White pages: Sylvester Mcniel 11165 Dodge Rd Montrose MI 48457 810-639-6025

Maybe this is him? We should call him? See if he knows anyone in that branch of the family interested in the history or any family documents or photos?? What do you think? Maybe not him!!!! He'd be about 80 years old.

next door, which probably is the elder son: George R. McNEAL, 28 years, born Michigan (SS DEATH INDEX: born 7/24/1902; died 1/1984, Michigan) Ina R. McNEAL, 23, born Ohio (SS DEATH INDEX: b. 10/19/1906; died 4/1978, Michigan) Ruth E.McNeal, 6, born Michigan Luziam (sp?) E., dau (or son?), 3, born MI George A., son, born 9/12, Michigan (SS Death index: no death for George born ca. 1929) Otherwise, I found this in the 1900 Census: Flushing Twp, Genesee Co., MichiganGeorge McNeal, born Feb 1877, Michigan Mary McNeal, born March 1878, Michigan (age 22 years), no place listed for parents birth George & Mary had been married 1 year (Census taken June 1900) also living with them: Charles E. McNeal, age28, servant no children listed.

LARRY LUTZE wrote (10/28/2002): As for George McNiel, he lived in Thearford MI and married Mary Phillips on 5 March 1898. he was a farmer. I have his obituary along with Marys and more information on their children. As for SylvesterMcNiel, yes that is the son, I wrote him a letter a while back. I just found information on George. He was the son Charles and Ella Van Kuren, born in Davison MI in 1877, I could not fine a birth record for him. He died 17 Feb 1926, FlintMI.

Mary died 17 Nov 1951, Milligan MI, her sons home.
