Is it possible Wm Griffin is Matilda's father?

I checked the 1850 census for Wm Griffin. There is no Matilda in the household.

Beal, Judy A., e-mail 1 to David A. Navorska, (Grand Rapids OH, JAB, vii Jun MMVI)

"David, I recently saw your information and others posted on World Connect/Rootsweb. My grgrgrandfather was Joseph F. Cole, but actually his name was Joseph S. B. Cole and his wife was Matilda E. Hardy ( not Griffin). Parents names arecorrect. Sometimes in old handwriting an "F" can look like an "S"??? Joseph even served in the Civil War.

I would like to exchange information on this line with you. I live in Grand Rapids, Ohio so if you live in the Northwest Ohio area, I could arrange to meet with you. Please let me hear from you soon. Judy A. Beal"
