BIOGRAPHY: The following was written by Glenn E Thompson:

BIOGRAPHY: My birth place was in Coldwater, Michigan in the year 1899. My dad Fred Thompson worked in the cement factory there. Later we moved to Toledo, Ohio. Dad worked in the bicycle factory then later began working for the WillyOverland Co. I went to kindergarten in the Robinwood School. Later on we moved to Orland, indiana where we took care of a farm. Every fall Dad would follow up the thrashing out west. LAter on he moved the family out there an settled inColumbia, South Dakota. We had a big family 12 children - 6 boys and 6 girls. A brother and sister passed away at a young age, they had whooping cough. Dad was a jack of all trades. At that time a man named Charlie Johnson owned thebiggest thrashing outfit anywhere around and every fall we would be with him till the snow flew.

In summer I worked on a farm for $50.00 per month. In winter I would cut cakes of ice for the Old Salon Ice House and I would trap and hunt. I would follow up thrashing every fall - we carried a cook car along with us wherever we went andwould leave it in the farmer's yard. I have seen it snow out there day and night for three and four nights - a real blizzard. I have seen driftout there 10 to 12 feet. Sometimes we had to have a rope from the house to the barn to findour way and you better hang onto the rope. I came to Toledo, Ohio in the year of 1926 and worked in the Willys Overland Co. until they went into receivership. I went through the awful Depression days, worked on the WPA for $15.00 perweek. In 1939 started working at Libby Owens Ford - East Broadway. I stayed there until I was forced out at age 65. There are 10 of us children still living - 5 boys and 5 girls. I have seen a lot of changes in my lifetime, horse andbuggy days to airplanes & automobiles to jets and a man on the moon and four wars. I have a son and daughter. They live in the state of Oregon. I have eight grandchildren. Now that Iam retired I get along the best way I can. I likefishing. I am now 72 years young. I am working for the Pattyn's Detective Agency and that is what kepps me young. Glenn E Thompson 177 Bacon Street Rossford, Ohio
