James E. Laswell, 70, of Anderson, passed away August 8, 2010 at his residence after an extended illness. He was born April 3, 1940 in Anderson. He graduated from Anderson High School and was a lifelong Anderson resident. He retired in 1995 from Delco Remy. James had a zest for life and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, treasure hunting and his pet dogs and cats. He had been a member of the Indiana Trappers Association. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Laswell of Anderson; children, John (wife, Lori) Laswell of Anderson, Sallie Barnes of Frankton, Lisa (husband, Michael) Culp of New Castle, James Laswell (fiancé, Stephanie Hart) of Anderson and Mary (husband, Danny) Boyer of TN; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; brothers, Jack Laswell of Anderson and Robert Brown of TX; and sister, Sue Weatherford of Cicero. He was preceded in death by his father, John Laswell; mother, Elzora (Ritenour) Brown; step father, Frailey Brown; sister, Mary Ann Mattucci; and brother, William Laswell, Sr. The family wishes to thank Southern Care Hospice for their care of James, especially Sara and Nichole, his special caregivers. Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions made be to Southern Care Hospice.
