Notes about Peter Petersen Schau

Peter Petersen Schau

Tondern, Schleswig-Holstein is today, Tonder, Dänmark.

20 July, 1916 - Peter legally changed his last name to Ebel.

Peter was a member of the Republican Party.

I find no evidence Peter ever married. His sister, Margaret, handled his cemetery bill.

He ran a saloon at 6700 Clark Ave. It was above this saloon where Martin Ebel was born.

Rose Navorska remembers lying in bed listening to the thunder and joke about someone rolling the beer barrels around.

Peter is buried in West Park Cem.

Mr. Leader writes:

'Martin and Anna were married on 20 June 1883 (I have a copy of the license). The 1910 census (if it can be believed) indicates that Martin, Anna, Margaret, and Peter immigrated in 1883. You indicate in notes for Martin H. Ebel that hewas born over a saloon operated by Ernest's half-brother Peter Schau. The 1910 census also indicates that Peter was a saloon keeper.

Based on Peter's age at the time of the census (25; Margaret was 30), it appears he was born in 1881. From the Cleveland Necrology File: 'Ebel-Peter, died suddenly at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 8, at Harbor beach, Mich. Funeral fromresidence, 2132 W. 67th st., Monday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. Auto funeral.'

Harbor Beach is my home town. Peter was my mother's first cousin.'
