Joyce, 82, of Charlotte and formerly of Eaton Rapids, was gathered by angels to go Home on September 22, 2016. She was the only daughter of Harvey E. and Helen L. (Guinnip) Burlison and sister to Harvey J.G., James, George, Joseph (her twin), Charles and Ronald.

Joyce resided her entire life in Charlotte and Eaton Rapids, MI area. She married the love of her life, Robert Allen Bodell on August 5, 1950 in Charlotte, MI.

Joyce worked various jobs in the beginning of her marriage and eventually settled for 40 plus years as a drywall finisher in the Eaton and Ingham county vicinities. Breaking into the men's world of construction with two of her daughters and some sisters-in-law, where they gained a reputation for excellence on-the-job.

An open-hearted woman, Joyce was a loving and giving wife for 37 years, a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother and aunt. She always availed herself to family members for any need.
Joyce always had a smile for anyone she knew and met and often times a hug. Her life rippled through many lives. She was a wonderful lady and will be greatly missed by her family and friends, until the day we meet again. She enters her new home with a greatly lived life.

Joyce leaves to mourn her passing a loving family: Krystal (Roy) Simpson and Debra (Dan) Loughan of Charlotte, Bonny (Ted) Powers and Robert "Sonny" Bodell, Jr., of Eaton Rapids; grandchildren, Jenn Bodo, Jessica (Wayne) Haughton, Grant (Natallie) Simpson, Brady Simpson, Matthew (Heather) Briggs, Savannah (Brandon) Prince and Gabrielle Bodell Mills; great grandchildren, Jordan and Dakota Bodo, Tahya and Avy Briggs, Dominique and Logan Haughton, Brenna and Cassidy Simpson, Ayden Krokker and Tristan Prince, Riley Stonewall and Maddox Krokker, two great great granddaughters, Zeraeha Bodo and Layla Robinson, many in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Bob in 1987; her first-born grandchild, Michelle Marie Bodell in 1970, her grandson Jason Krokker in 2016 and all her siblings.

Funeral services were held on Monday, September 26, 2016 at Skinner Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids Chapel. Interment followed at Brickyard Cemetery, Eaton Rapids, MI where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, grandson and granddaughter.

As Joyce was a transplant patient, in lieu of flowers the family requested monetary donations in Joyce's memory be made to the Sparrow Foundation Dialysis Unit.
