Funeral services for Helen Bernice Wentworth, 81, of Ledyard were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 20 at Bethany Evangelical and Reformed Church in Ledyard with Pastor Larry Doughan officiating. Interment was in Riverview Cemetery inElmore, Minnesota with Winter Funeral Home of Buffalo Center in charge of arrangements.

Marion Brandt was Organist and Jerry Johnson was soloist. Casketbearers were Brian Blair, Mike Bland, Darrin Schealler, Fred Bland, Jeff Koons and Shasta Wentworth.

Helen Bernice Wentworth was born in Clay City, Illinois on November 28, 1918 to Lee and Ethel (Paris) Kessel. She moved as a young child to a farm in the Elmore, Minnesota area. Helen attended school in the Springfield Township DistrictNumber 1, known as the 'Watts' school.

She was united in marriage to Harold A. Wentworth on May 19, 1938 at Blue Earth, Minnesota. They lived in the Elmore and Ledyard area all of their life. She worked at Green Giant, Elmore Nursery, delivered Sunday Des Moines Register andthe Fairmont Sentinel. She was also an Avon dealer, sold Watkins products and mowed lawns.

She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She liked playing bingo and going to Senior Citizens.

Helen passed away on Friday, June 16, 2000 at the Ruthven Care Center in Ruthven at the age of 81.

She is survived by her daughters: Janice and her husband, Delbert Schealler of Burt; JoAnn and her husband, Maurice Blair of Swea City; Roberta and her husband, Michael Koons of Fairmont, Minnesota; Brenda Bland of Ruthven; a son, A. H.(Al Wentworth of Osceola; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; five brothers, four sisters and many friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold in 1997, and a great-grandson.'
