"Sandra Lee Sleper

January 20, 1943 - August 5, 2004

Titonka - Sandra Lee Sleper, 65 [sic], died Thursday, August 5 (2004), in the Mercy Hospice at Johnston, Iowa.

Funeral service for her was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 8, in the Bethany Evangelical and Reformed Church at Ledyard with the Rev. Victor Vriesen officiating. Burial was in Highland Home Cemetery at Ledyard, theGarry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home of Bancroft in charge of arrangements.

Casket bearers were Trent Johnson, Scott Johnson, Terry Pearson, Dustin Trunkhill, Randy Pearson and Bob Marek.

Honorary bearers were grandchildren, Alex, Tyler, Ellie, Jacob and Drew Maschoff; Sam, Megan and Anna Escherich.

Sandra Lee, daughter of Ervin and Doris Johnson of Ledyard was born January 20, 1943. She graduated from Ledyard High School in 1961, then attended business school at Omaha, Nebraska.

She was married to Eldean Maschoff on August 24, 1963 at Ledyard and the couple had two children. They lived in Minnesota for several years before moving in 1973 to Crystal Lake. Sandy was married to Russel Sleper on July 28, 1984 inthe Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. Russel and Sandy lived on a farm near Titonka. She was a member of the Bethany Evangelical and Reformed Church at Ledyard.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Russel Sleper of Titonka and her children, Mike Maschoff and his wife, DeAnn and Lisa Escherich and her husband, Brian, all of Ankeny. She as eight grandchildren.

Also surviving are four brothers, Steve Johnson and wife, Kathy, Mesa, Arizona; Ron Johnson and wife, Denise, Bedford, Virginia; Bill Johnson and wife, Sandy, Armstrong and Gary Johnson of Fairmont, Minn. ... With Russ, she shared her love for old time music and dancing, horesback riding, golfing, playing cards, the Iowa Hawkeyes, vacationing at Biloxi, Mississippi and spending time with friends. She enjoyed her Sunday evenings, having tacopizza with Russ and friends at Blue Earth. ... Sandy enjoyed excellent health until she was suddenly diagnosed with aggressive incurable brain cancer in December, 2003. ..."
