Gerald Rudolph Ford (Junior), Age:93 Years 05 Months 12 Days Old14, 1913, at 3202 Woolworth Avenue in Omaha, Nebraska, where his parents lived with his paternal grandparents. His mother was Dorothy Ayer Gardner, and his father was Leslie Lynch King Sr., a wool trader and a son of prominent banker Charles Henry King and Martha Alicia King (née Porter). Dorothy separated from King just sixteen days after her son's birth.ents, on February 1, 1916, Dorothy married Gerald Rudolff Ford, a salesman in a family-owned paint and varnish company. They then called her son Gerald Rudolff Ford Jr. The future president was never formally adopted, and did not legally change his name until December 3, 1935.represented Michigan's 5th District for nearly 25 years before suddenly finding himself at the crossroads of history. He was elevated to vice president, and then became the 38th U.S. president due to Richard Nixon's involvement in the Watergate scandal and subsequent resignation. Ford was defeated by Jimmy Carter in the 1976 election. The young boy's name was then changed to Gerald Rudolph Ford, (Junior). He graduated from the University of Michigan and Yale Law School, and served in United States Navy during World War II. In 1948 he married Elizabeth (Betty) Bloomer, and was elected as a Republican to represent Michigan;s 5th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1949 to 1973. that investigated the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Appointed Vice President by President RICHARD M. NIXON in 1973 after the resignation of SPIRO Agnew, he became President of the United States when Nixon resigned in 1974 as a result of the Watergate scandal. He sought election to a full term in 1976 but was defeated by Georgia Governor Jimmy Carter in a Close election. He passed away at his home in Rancho Mirage, California.
