Margarita de Austria (Graz, Austria, 25 de diciembre de 1584 – El Escorial, 3 de octubre de 1611) reina consorte de España y Portugal (1599-1611) por su matrimonio con el rey Felipe III.ta de Austria, archiduquesa de Austria desde su nacimiento, fue hija del archiduque Carlos II de Estiria (1540 – 1590), hijo del emperador Fernando I, y de María Ana de Baviera (1551 – 1608). En 1599 Margarita de Austria contrajo matrimonio por poderes con el rey Felipe III en Ferrara. El enlace fue confirmado en Madrid.Duque de Lerma, valido de su esposo, sobre los asuntos de gobierno. Éste, en un primer momento, consiguió que la Reina perdiese influencia en la Corte pero Margarita de Austria, con ayuda del confesor real fray Luis de Aliaga, logró que se iniciara una investigación que dejó al descubierto el entramado de corrupción que rodeaba al duque de Lerma y sus colaboradores. Algunos de éstos, como Rodrigo Calderón, fueron declarados culpables. El Duque de Lerma logró quedar absuelto aunque tuvo que abandonar la vida pública en 1618.
