Mass of Christian Burial for Milton James Croymans will be held on Monday, March 25, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wilmot. Father John McMullen, OSB will officiate and burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Sunday from 2 – 5 pm, with a scripture and rosary service at 2 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday morning, one hour prior to the Mass. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion, Drake-Sorbel Post 64. Milton James Croymans was born to Henry and Emma (Kasuske) Croymans on December 9, 1931 in Milbank, South Dakota. He was a graduate of Milbank High School. On January 22, 1951 Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged on January 12, 1955. Jim was united in marriage to Donna Jeanne Kosse on September 26, 1951. They lived in Milbank until 1966 at which time they moved to Wilmot, where he owned and operated the Super Valu Grocery Store until the mid 1980s. He served as the mayor of Wilmot from 1968 – 1972. Jim also served as the Wilmot Municipal Finance Officer from 1972 – 1994. He was a member of the Wilmot Fire Department as well. Jim was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wilmot where he served on the Parish Council several times. He was also a member of the American Legion, Drake-Sorbel Post 64. In his spare time, Jim found joy in fishing and was an avid Twins and Vikings fan. Jim Croymans died on March 20, 2013, at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, having reached the age of 81. Milton James Croymans is survived by his children: Jim Croymans of Sisseton, SD; Amy Croymans of Wilmot, SD; and Gary Pauli of Arizona; his grandchildren: Bryan (Jennifer) Croymans of NC; Laura Croymans of Watertown, SD; Sarah Croymans of Wilmot, SD; and Garret Pauli of Arizona; two great-grandchildren: Matthew Peters and Jacob Croymans; and his sister, Jean Putnam of OH. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, in 2005; his daughter, Anne, in 2002; his brothers, Gary and Melvin; and his sister, Arlene Pauli.
