machinist bij het GEB te Dordrecht (Gemeentelijk Energie Bedrijf), bijgenaamd 'rooie Jan', hij had rood haar.

Hij had weinig contact met zijn broers en familie, wrs. omdat hij in 3-ploegendienst moest werken en daar niet goed tegen kon.

In 1931 werden de bestaande huizen aan de Bankastraat gesloopt, om plaats te maken voor nieuwbouw. Op 2-2-1931 verhuisde het gezin daarom naar de Reeweg Oost 128, na komst provinciale weg (na de oorlog) hernummerd naar 216. Dit kwam omdat er veel huizen tussengebouwd waren, die eerst genummerd waren, a-b-c. Later is dit dus hernummerd.
