De eerste Arie Eliza Koudijs was aannemer, net zoals zijn vader Jan.
Deze Jan, dan wel Arie Eliza zou de bouwer/aannemer zijn geweest van de KNMI toren in De Bilt. Althans, dat werd door Arie Eliza II beweerd.

Van 25 oktober 1901 tot 28 maart 1912 woonde de familie Koudijs (Arie E., zijn vrouw Evertje en de kinderen Hendrikus Gerardus, Geertruida Hendrika, Cornelis Pieter en Gerardus Hermanus) op de Leidschekade 91 te Utrecht. Ze kwamen uit De Bilt. Op 28 maart 1912 verhuisde A.E. Koudijs samen met de jongste zoon Cornelis Pieter (werd later banketbakker) naar de Kievitdwarsstraat 1a in Utrecht.

Deze Arie is waarschijnlijk genoemd naar de oom van vader Jan Koudijs, Ariën Koudijs.
De naam Ariën is misschien afkomstig uit de "Packouw" tak (Ariën, de vader van Teuntje Packouw)
