Notes about Johannes Hendrikus Koudijs

Johannes Hendrikus was de enige uit het ouderlijke gezin (van Jan en Kuinera) die geen timmerman, maar onderwijzer, wilde worden. Daarvoor liep hij iedere schooldag van Doorn naar de Normaal-school (kweekschool, PABO) in Amersfoort (ruim 20 km.). Echter na zijn diploma behaald te hebben kon hij geen baan krijgen als onderwijzer en nam, om niet ten laste van zijn ouders te komen (die ondertussen 12 kinderen hadden), dienst bij de Kon. Marine. Na zijn Marine tijd werd hij ca. 1885 tot aan zijn pensionering onderwijzer in Utrecht.
