Notes about Jasper Johannes Van Commenée

Broodbakker, koopman, timmerman en werkman. Op 21 december 1859 staat Jasper ingeschreven in Uithoorn huisnummer 104 als broodbakkersknecht. In 1860 woont hi met zijn gezin in Hardinxveld, daar overlijden twee van zijn kinderen. Op 16 juni 1863 wordt hij ‘bij vonnis der Arrondissements-Regtbank te Leiden’, in staat van faillissement verklaard. Zeven jaar later wordt ‘bij vonnis van de Arrondissements-Regtbank te Haarlem, Jasper Johannes van Commenee, binnenlandsch Koopman in graan en meel in het klein, wonende te Haarlemmermeer, verklaard te zijn in staat van faillissement.’ Van zijn negen kinderen sterven er vijf op zeer jonge leeftijd en na tien jaren huwelijk sterft ook zijn vrouw Aagje. Zij is dan nog maar 32 jaar oud. Johannes trouwt op 9-10-1879 met Johanna (Naadje Woudenberg), het prototype van een ‘boze stiefmoeder’. Zo moeten de kinderen in de keuken eten, terwijl zij en haar man in de huiskamer de maaltijd nuttigen. Kwajongensstreken worden
streng gestraft. ’s Winters moeten de kinderen b.v. met de klompjes op het hoofd op blote voeten in de sneeuw staan.

Jasper Johannes heeft o.a. gewoond in Nieuwkoop huisnummer 57 en aan de Laurierstraat (Rozengracht) en aan de Oostenburgermiddenstraat 57 in Amsterdam.
