Het gezin woont in de Biezenpolder bij Sint Kruis. Dit was de parochie Sluis. Blijkbaar was Sluis te ver weg om dopen te voltrekken en werd in het nabij gelegen Middelburg te kerk gegaan. Vreemd genoeg vinden we het huwelijk van beide niet in Middelburg terug (?). Gezien de doopsels zal het huwelijk tussen april en september 1721 hebben plaatsgevonden.

Notes about Judocus "Joos, Joris, Joseph" Vercraeije

Zijn voornaam is onduidelijk. In de kerkregisters wordt hij Josephus genoemd, maar in de staat van goed van zijn dochter Susanne, Jooris en in die van zijn eerste vrouw Joos. Waarschijnlijk heeft de pastoor de voornaam Joos (= Judocus) vertaald naar Josephus.

Ene Judocus Vercraije is doopgetuige bij een kind van Corneel Lootens en Catharina de Waele uit Aardenburg (03-09-1717).

Uit de staat van goed van zijn eerste vrouw zouden we kunnen concluderen dat hij een broer Jan Vercraeije had (of was dit zijn vader?). Deze Jan was voogd paterneel over de kinderen.

Bij de staat van goed van Josina Losier (1741), die in haar tweede huwelijk Pieter de Backer huwde, wordt als Voogd Paterneel vermeld Franciscus Vercraeye. Vreemd aangezien Joos de zwager was van Pieter?
