Korte historie van 'De Vrouwe Maria Jacoba'

De Vrouwe Maria Jacoba van 880 ton werd in 1765 op de werf van Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie van de Kamer van Hoorn gebouwd. Het schip maakte drie reizen naar Oost-Indië.
De eerste reis vertrok het schip op 18-07-1767 vanaf de rede van Texel. Het keerde op 23-08-1770 hier terug. De waarde van de lading bedroeg f 123.088,- voor de kamer van Hoorn en f 86.211,- voor de kamer van Enkhuizen. De schipper was Klaas Ariensz.
De tweede reis vertrok het schip op 17-01-1772 en keerde terug op 25-05-1773 met lading met een waarde van f 176.576,- voor de kamer van Hoorn. De schipper was Pieter Mooy.
Op de derde reis vertrok het schip op 12-06-1774 met schipper Pieter Dekker en keerde daarna niet meer naar Holland terug. Het schip werd opgelegd in Indië op 31-12-1780. Kermelijk is de Maria Jacoba hier de laatste 6,5 jaar gebruikt voor de lokale handel.
