Karen ble Jørgen Monsen Hangerås andre kone etter at Serri Jonsdatter Løvseth døde bare 29 år gammel.

Karen fødte 3 barn:
1. Erik, f. 1828, gift med Dortea Jensdatter fra Hangerskjær, f. 1833. De ble husmannsfolk under Løvseet, på plassen Kleivan.
2. Kristen, f. 1832, han ble gift med Jonetta Mikkelsdatter Høstad, f. 1838. De var først eiere av bruksnr 2 under Løvset, gården Løveng. De solgte denne og kjøpte gården Hangerås, gården Kristens far kom fra.
3. Berit, f. 1836, d. 1871. Hun ble gift med Erik Jonsen Stene Sjurstu, f. 1836, d. 1871. Disse drev Løvset intil de begge døde samme år i en alder av 35 år. De etterlot seg to barn, Karen, f. 1864 og Lars, f. 1868
