Notes about Allard Hulst

Allard heeft de militaire opleiding in Kampen gevolgd, waarna hij werk krijgt als onder-inspecteur bij de politie in Rotterdam.
Op 15 december 1894 wordt Allard benoemd tot inspecteur der Rijksveldwacht in het 3e district met standplaats Zwolle, en vanaf 1895 in Zwolle. Deze benoeming bij Koninklijk Besluit van 8 december 1894, zal zeker mede te danken zijn geweest aan het feit dat de minister van Justitie Hendrik Jan Smidt de veel jongere halfbroer is van zijn grootmoeders Susan Margaretha Smidt (van vaderszijde) en Ida Smidt (van moederszijde). Begin 1900 verhuist zijn standplaats naar Arnhem. In 1902 wordt Allard benoemd tot Ridder in de Orde van de Nederlandsche Leeuw. Na de pensionering van Allard keren ze terug naar Drenthe, waar ze in Assen gaan wonen. Daar ligt nog steeds hun beider graf op de Zuidergebraafplaats, Beilerstraat 86 in Assen met de tekst:
