Genealogy Online can change the use of capital letters in names. Many family tree programs write surnames in capital letters. For example ALIDA VAN BUUREN. Genealogy Online then turns this into Alida van Buuren. That is easier to read. This correction is switched on by default.

Do you not want this?

Then switch the correction off:

  1. Log in and go to Publication management.
  2. Choose your publication and click Publication settings.
  3. Under Capitalization correction names, choose No.
  4. Update your publication.

The names are then shown just as they are in your GEDCOM file.

Please note

The correction follows the Dutch spelling rules. For foreign names, the result can be different from what you expect. For example with Belgian names, where Van is often written with a capital letter. In that case, switch the correction off.
