Question/answer » What is the historical context on a person page?

On the page of a person, Genealogy Online shows extra information. This information does not come from your family tree, but from other sources. This gives the visitor an idea of the time in which your ancestor lived.

What is shown?

• Historical context: events around the day of birth, marriage or death. For example, who was in power at the time, or what the weather was like.
• External links: a list of websites where more can be found about the surname.

This information is separate from your data. Your family tree does not change because of it.

Switching on or off

Do you not want to show these parts? You can set this:

1. Log in and go to Publication management.
2. Choose your publication and click Publication settings.
3. Switch off Display the historical context or Display this list of external links.
4. Update your publication.
