Question/answer » My details are on Genealogy Online, I don't want that! What should I do?
Genealogy Online publishes genealogical data of family tree researchers (Genealogy Online is not the owner of the data or publications). Because it is not permitted to publish data from living persons (General Data Protection Regulation), Genealogy Online will only publish data from living persons if the author has indicated that he has the explicit permission of the person in question.
If you still have your data on Genealogy Online, this is because the author has indicated that you have given permission for this or because the author has incorrectly marked you in his / her pedigree program as deceased. In both cases you must contact the author of the relevant publication. Each page states who the author is, including a link to a contact form. In this message, indicate as clearly as possible on which page (URL) your data is and that you do not give your consent (or withdraw your consent) and that the data must be removed within a reasonable period of time.
If the author does not respond or refuse to delete your data, please contact Coret Genealogie. An attempt will then be made to have the author remove the data. If the author of the publication does not respond to this, the entire publication of the author will be removed from Genealogy Online.
Genealogical publications are copyright protected. Although data is often retrieved from public archives, the searching, interpreting, collecting, selecting and sorting of the data results in a unique product. Copyright protected work may not simply be copied or republished.
Please stick to the following rules
Request permission to copy data or at least inform the author, chances are that the author gives permission, often the contact also leads to more exchange of data.
Do not use this data until you have checked it, preferably at the source (the archives).
State from whom you have copied the data and ideally also his/her original source.
