John, bp. 11 Mar. 1722, Scoonie p., res. in the coalhill [165]. M. 13 Nov. 1747, Scoonie p., Janet Craigie [169]. It is believed this m. relates to the ancestor. The third son was named John rather than the first; this naming order sometimes occurred when the father & paternal grandfather of a child had the same Christian name as the child and the name of an earlier ancestor might be given the first son. There was no other John King found in Largo or Scoonie bps. who might qualify as the ancestor, and it was noted that John was a collier in Durie when his son, Robert, was bp. in Scoonie 1 Sep. 1766 [165].
