George, b. 22 Jun., bp. 23 Jun. 1734 Newton p., wit: George Wilson, Abraham Steele [2]. Pr. of m. 3 May, m. 14 Jun. 1754, Newton p., Jean Moffat. George Steel of Inveresk p. when m., wit: Abraham Steel & Alexander Moffat [8]. The pr. & m. were also recorded in Inveresk p. for 10 May & 14 Jun. 1754, with the same witnesses [76]. It is believed that this m. relates to the ancestor and that the witness at his m. was his father. His second dau. was named Margaret. However, convincing evidence was seen in the record of bp. of his dau., Margaret, on 24 Oct. 1756 in Inveresk p., where George was shown as an indweller in Cairnie, and a witness shown as Abraham Steell, "his father" [11].
[This Baptism cannot be found in Scotlands People.]
