      At Ayr the eighth day of December one thousand eight hundred & forty three years, Compeared John Sturrock Writer in Kilmarnock who produced inventory of the personal estate of the deceased Mrs Jean Galt or Rankin after designed and also Last will & Testament by said defunct of which Inventory & last will and testament the tenor follows -
      Inventory of the personal Estate of Mrs Jean Galt or Rankin lately residing at Wardneuk in the parish of Kilmarnock, (widow of the deceased John Rankin late Farmer there) and who died at Wardneuk on the twenty eighth day of June Eighteen hundred forty two.- Value of the deceaseds proportion of the free personal estate of the said John Rankin, her husband conform to Residuary Account thereof exhibited resigned by the Executor after named on the twenty sixth day of February 1841, the said proportion never having been seperated or divided from the remainder of the said John Rankins estate in his Exceutors hands-------------------------------------------------------------£182-15-4
      Sum of the Inventory, One Hundred and eighty two pounds fifteen shillings & four pence Sterling (signed) David Rankin Andrew Jamason Esquire,
      Commisary Depute of the Commisariat of Ayrshire, Compeared David Rankin, Farmer in Wardneuk in the parish of Kilmarnock. Executor of the deceased Mrs Jean Galt or Rankin lately residing at Wardneuk, widow of the deceased John Rankin. Farmer there who being solemnly sworn & examined depones that the said Mrs Jean Galt or Rankin, the deponents mother died at Wardneuk aforesaid upon or about the twenty eighth day of June Eighteen hundred & Forty two, and the deponent has entered upon the possession & management of the deceaseds personal Estate as sole Executor, nominated by her in her Last will & Testament executed on the Eighteenth day of November, Eighteen hundred & thirty nine, which is now exhibited & signed by the Deponent & the said Commissary Depute of this date
      as relative hereto:- That the Deponent does not know of any settlement or writing relative to the disposal of the deceased personal Estate or Effects or any part of them other than that now exhibited:- That the pregoing Inventory which is likewise Signed by the Deponent & the said Commissary depute is a full and true Inventory of all the personal or movable Estate or Effects of the said deceased Mrs Jean Galt or Rankin wheresoever situated already recovered, or known to the deponent to be existing belonging or due to her beneficially at the time of her death:- And that the said Estate situated in Scotland is above the value of One Hundred pounds & under the value of Two Hundred pounds Sterling - All which is truth as the deponent shall answer to God,

      I, Mrs Jean Galt or Rankin residing at Wardneuk in the parish of Kilmarnock Relict of the deceased John Rankin
      Farmer there in order to regulate the succesion to my moveable Estate, Do hereby Make constitute and appoint David Rankin now Farmer in Wardneuk aforesaid, my son to be my sole Executor & universal legatory with full power to intromit with my whole moveables and Executry of every description all which I hereby Assign transfer and Make over to and in favour of the said David Rankin his heirs Executors and assignees - to give up Inventories thereoff to confirm the same & generally to do every thing in the premises competent to an Executor But under the burden of the just and lawful onesaid debts that shall be due by me at the time of my death & of my deathbed & funeral charges - And this I declare to be my Last will & Testament. Dispensing with the delivery hereof, & declaring these presents to be valid though found in my custody, or in that of any other person to whom I may have commited the same undelivered at the time of my death - And I consent to the Registration hereof in the books of Council & Session, or others competent therin to remain for preservation, for that purpose I constitute.
