Uit het Familieboek Feitsma (door Ir. F. Feitsma en D.P. Feitsma):
Jan Derks was boer in de Westerhorn o/ Lutjegast. Van zijn huwelijk met Tietje Jans bestaat een huwelijkscontract. In het kort wordt het volgende overeengekomen: Bruid en bruidegom hebben besloten een christelijk huwelijk in voegen nabeschreven aan te gaan. Zij verklaren dat "alle zodanige goederen sij Elieden bij elkanderen komen te brengen deswelke egter na de egte beslapinge in onze meenschap sullen verblijven. Soons en dogters uit dit huwelijk wordende geprocreëerd sullen tothare ouders nalatenschap erna in gelijke sibbe wesen en bij alle erf en versterf het regt van representatie hebben en genieten en in der ouderen plaatse staan". Als er geen kinderen meer in leven zijn en de bruidegom komt voor de bruid te overlijden, dan "sal de Bruidt of dan nagelatene weduwe uit des verstorvene of van de geheele boedel en nalatenschap trekken een voor al een Summa van Hondert vijf en Seventigh car.gld; met hare lijves toebehoren sonder gelts meer". Wanneer de bruid voor de bruidegom overlijdt, dan "sullen haare erfgenamen uit de Boedel niets hebben te eischen als des verstorvenes lijves toebehoren sonder iets meer". Wanneer de kinderen uit dit huwelijk verwekt zonder eigen nakomelingen sterven dan "sullen alle vaste goederen wederom moeten vererven en versterven aan diezijde waar deselve sijn uit voort gekomen". De zigslieden (getuigen) waren aan de bruidegoms zijde Jacob Harms, Meerten Harms en Claas Harms als volle Neeven en zwager, aan de Bruidtsijde Lammert Tijssen als volle oom en Jan Jacobs als zwager, Brantie Berents, Jaco Harms en Claas Cornelis als voormondt en voogden over de Bruidegoms voorkind mede beleden 11-1-1753
