    In 1660 werd Schattersum (te Schildwolde) aangekocht door Simeon Wijchgel. Als grootte wordt dan eveneens 6 akkers en 18 deimten aangegeven. Deze Simeon Wijchgel, een burgemeesterszoon uit Altona, was syndicus der Ommelanden van 1653-1661. Hij overleed in 1676. Kort tevoren was een inventaris opgemaakt van de goederen welke zijn vrouw Johanna Mees op haar sterfdag, 4 oktober 1675, had nagelaten. Daarop komt voor een heerd land te Schildwolde, Schattersum genaamd, met de borg, het schathuis, hoven, singels en zes akkers, met enige hooilanden, vrij van behuizing, wordende jaarlijks bij verscheiden personen gebruikt voor ongeveer 258 gulden. Hier wordt dus van een borg gesproken. Niet duidelijk is hoe deze eigendom van Johanna Mees kon zijn. Bij scheiding van 27 augustus 1680 viel Schattersum ten deel aan haar zoon Lodewijk Wijchgel, getrouwd met Lamina ten Berge, een dochter van Gerhard Hendrik ten Berge, die als rentmeester van de vaste goederen der provincie Groningen berucht is geworden door de fraude die hij in die functie pleegde.

    Knipsel uit Nieuwsblad van het Noorden met artikel over de Waalse kerk te Groningen waarin melding wordt gemaakt van ene Johanna Mees, die ca. 1640 huwde met Simon Wijchgel.

    Simeon Wijchgel was raadsheer.
