    "1761: Den 21 Junii is hier het H. Avondtmaal gehouden, na gedane proefpredikatie door C. de Baar, V.D.M. te Rottum. En is met attestatie van Groningen tot dese gemeinte, als lidtmaat overgekomen Pieter Remkes, schoolmr. te Cantes."

    "Pieter Renekes (Renkes). Schoolmeester te Kantens van 1760 tot zijn overlijden op 15 december 1802, 78 jaar oud. Hij was daar tevens collecteur. Gehuwd op 7 juni 1761 te Kantens met Anna Catharina Berghuis, gedoopt op 13 maart 1735 te Groningen, dochter van Jacob Berghuis (Borghuijs), en Jantien Havinga."
