    Albertus Pannekoek trouwde in 1916 te Grand Rapids met Grietje Modderman uit Leens, Groningen. Zij werd in Amerika Grace genoemd. In 1912 vertrok zij uit Rotterdam en vervolgens kwam ze via Ellis Island Amerika binnen. Daar ging ze wonen bij haar zussen en haar zwagers, die al naar Grand Rapids waren geemigreerd. In Amerika veranderde Albertus zijn naam in Bert Cook. Die officiele naamswijziging vond plaats in de dertiger jaren. Bert en Grace kregen drie kinderen, waarvan twee de volwassen leeftijd bereikten. Zij droegen ook de naam Cook.
    Sinds die tijd heeft de familie zich behoorlijk uitgebreid.
