Notes about Hirsch (Henry) Abraham Shaynkin

SSN: 083-28-1371
In his SSN application signed on March 10 1952, he wrote:
Name: Henry Shaynkin
Name at birth: Herschel Shaynkin
Address: 1593 St. Marks Ave, Brooklyn, New York
Born: Aug 20 1888, Russia (currently 63 years old)
Parents: Abraham Shaynkin and Rachel Shulman
Employer: Self Employed
Business Address: same address give (1593 St. Marks, etc)

In the US world war I draft registration cards of 1917-1918, we have him as follows:
Name: Henry Shaynkin
Born: August 20 1887 (note: wrong year !) in Nezin, Chernigof, Russia
Occapation: assistant pharmacist. Has parents + 3 brothers solely dependent on him.
He started writing sisters and then crossed out the "sis" and wrote "Brs".
He is single and white. He filled that up to avoid conscription! Indeed, he tries to avoid conscription on the grounds of "sickness and sole support". I think he lied here.
It was not signed by him, but some clerk, and dated June 5 1917 (date not clear).
It's interesting that he was single at age of 30. Need to check if he married afterwards.

In the US world war II draft registration cards of 1942, we have him as follows:
Name: Henry Abraham Shaynkin
(the middle name is no doubt after his father's first name)
He was born 20 Aug 1888 in Niezen
Residence: 1593 St. Marks Avenue, Brooklyn, Kings, NY
Relative (probably wife): Ida Shaynkin at same address
Employer: "in business for self"
Place of employment: gives his residence address.
He signs it.
So in 1942 he was married to Ida.
He was naturalized on 28 Jan 1944 while living at 1593 St. Marks Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, aged 55. Image is provided. He signs this, and writes his name as Henry Abraham Shaynkin, the Abraham is after his father Abraham.

In 1925 NY state census, we have in house number 1641:
St. Marks
Henry Shaynkin (misspelled Shyankin)
Head, age 34 (born about 1891) in Russia. Occupation is drugs.
Does that mean pharmacy?
Number of years in USA: 13
Ida Shaynkin
Wife, age 28 (born about ) in Russia.
Number of years in USA: 20
Zelda Shaynkin
Daughter, age 2, born in USA
Then in same house we have
Head, Benny Shaynkin
32 years old, Russia, occupation: photography
Wife, Shaynkin Minnie, 32 years old, Russia,
naturalized 1919
and son Leonard Shaynkin, 7 years old, USA
The conclusion from the fact that Ben and Henry were living together
is that they were very likely first cousins. We know they were not brothers
because their father names were different but both came from Nezin.

In 1930 US census
Residence: 1641 St. Marks, Kings, New York, USA
Henry was born circa 1892, Russia. Immigrated 1917. Parents born in Russia
Ida was born circa 1900, Russia. She immigrated 1906. Parents born in Russia
Zelda was born circa 1924, NYC.
They married circa 1922 (8 years before the census)
Henry's occupation is pharmacist

In 1940 US census
Residence: 1593 St Marks Avenue, A D 23, Kings, New York, USA
(they also resided there in 1935)
Henry was born circa 1889, NYC (wrong, it should be Russia)
Ida was born circa 1899, Russia
Zelda was born circa 1923, NYC (single)
Henry's occupation is pharmacist in a pharmacy

Ellis Island:
Hirsch Scheinkin arrived on the ship Czar, Mar 4 1913. Port of departure: Libau.
Residence: Neshin, Russia. Age 25 so born circa 1888.
Occupation: Clerk. Single. In homeland, father Abram Scheinkin, Neshin Czernigow.
Destination: NY, NY.
He purchased his own ticket. Never been to US before. Joining brother X Scheinkin
(first initial not clear), 1779 Rifkin Street, Brooklyn, NY.
5 feet 3 inches. Dark complexion, hair and eyes. Born Neshin, Russia.

Note: although not listed together he was on the same ship on the same date as his cousin Abraham.

I think Henry Shaynkin married again, he either divorced Ida, or more likely, she died.
Then, I think, he married Beatrice who appears in SSDI as Beatrice Shaynkin.

Name: Beatrice Shaynkin
SSN: 116-28-1265
Last Residence: 11692 Far Rockaway, Queens, New York, USA
Born: 26 Dec 1898
Died: Dec 1984
State (Year) SSN issued: New York (1952-1954)

Henry's SSDI says:

Name: Henry Shaynkin
SSN: 083-28-1371
Last Residence: 11692 Far Rockaway, Queens, New York, USA
Born: 20 Aug 1886
Died: Apr 1983
State (Year) SSN issued: New York (1952-1953)

Because both had the same last residence (in terms of zip code), I suspect that Beatrice was Henry's last wife. Note that Beatrice happens to have an unclaimed bank account, see:
