BIOGRAPHY: Notes for Norma NMN Pilcher

A 1909 letter from Etta to King Trimble says that Norma got a rocker for Christmas from Uncle Andrew... and a bib from Nellie Lyford. In letter to King Trimble, Jan 1910, Etta writes: "The young lady, as you call her, is fast asleep now. Yes, she likes hickory nuts just as well as her father but can't chew them down quite so fast. Norma has a bad cold at present... Swallowed a baby pin a week ago Saturday, but suffered no pain from it. Guess I will watch her a little closer
hereafter.

Etta to King, Dec 1, 1910: ...Norma is a great big girl now, three feet tall. Don't know what she weighs but all of 40 lbs. Weighed 35 lbs six months ago. Is just the picture of Frank.

22 Nov 1910: Norma received a card from "Grampa Trimble" about the birth of her new sister. Nellie Lyford to Carrie Trimble Ellis, Mar 26, 1911: Norma.. is a little dear and so sturdy looking... Norma took on a lot of responsibility after Etta died. She would bake cakes and her brothers would "eat them in a minute." Lived at 5024 W. Lake Street, Mpls, in Jan 1931

25 Oct 1933 letter from Mrs. Ralph Mehrkens, San Jose, CA: "...glad...you arrived home and enjoyed your trip here" with Bessie, apparently about a month or two prior to the letter. Refers to visiting "Big Basin" and sending pictures. Norma and Bessie living at 2708 W. 44th St, Mpls.

Wrote to Elizabeth Pilcher Trimble Skinner in January 1980 that her meningitis took her hearing, but that she was most going to miss square dancing. Elizabeth says she asked Don Pilcher to "send their snapshots to me."

Wrote to Mary Ethel Jahnel in 1961: ...In the box with the [family] Bible were two silver teaspoons with the initial "L" engraved. [Mary Ethel Ellis Jahnel is the one who passed the Family Bible on to Norma who passed it on to Robert and then on to me/CP]
