Notes about William Harleston

He served in the Revolution, and before his majority was in charge of the plantations accounting to his elder brother Isaac in model business letters. He was an ambitious youth as may be inferred fro m the letter signed "W. H." of which he was the author. He was twice married; first to Miss Elizabeth Pinckney, who died childless, and second to Sarah Quash.

William Harleston and Sarah Quash had the following children:
Hannah Child Harleston b. circa 1797
Sarah Hasell Harleston b. 12/23/1800 and d. 7/12/1865
Constantia Harleston b. circa 1803 and died 7/1/1825
William Harleston b. 1804 and died 1874
John Harleston b. 11/15/1805 and d. 8/26/1877
Elizabeth Pinckney Harleston, christened 9/15/1790

For additional information for the entire Harleston Family in America, you may want to refer to Theodore D. Jervey's article The Harlestons, that appeared in the " South Carolina Historical and Genealogical Magazine", p150-173. Unfortunately, I don't have the year, but you should be able to find the article in the index. It was probably in the 1940's or 1950's.

William's paternal grandparents were John Harleston and Hannah Child. His maternal grandparents were Robert Quash and Constantia Hasel.
