FREDERICO AUGUSTO SCHMIDT, o Visconde de Schmidt, nasceu e foi batizado na freguesia de Santa Rita, Rio de Janeiro-RJ, filho de Jorge Schmidt e Matilde Porfíria de Souza, e faleceu em 20/11/1903 também no Rio, estando sepultado no Cemitério do Caju. Visconde de Schmidt por Decreto de 16/01/1891 de D. Carlos I, Rei de Portugal. Proprietário de lojas de tecidos importados à Rua da Alfândega 68 e à Rua Riachuelo 97.

Casou-se, em primeiras núpcias, em 29/05/1869 (freg. de Santo Antonio Lv. 1º fls. 189) com MARIA ANTONIA DE ARAÚJO, n. 1850 Ilha do Governador, Rio de Janeiro-RJ, filha de José Carlos Soares e Francisca Joaquina, f. 09/06/1892 Rua do Riachuelo, 137, sep. Cemitério do Caju (carneiro perpétuo 41A), Rio de Janeiro-RJ.

Cas. (2) 02/09/1893 Capela do Sagrado Coração de Jesus, Botafogo (Santo Antonio 6º, 62) com Rosa Godoy, n. São José, Rio de Janeiro-RJ, filha do Dr. João Antonio Kelly de Godoy Botelho e de Rosa Carolina Fazenda.
