Notes about Homer Ira Cornelison [K FgmErickBu]

1 NOTE I never met my grandfather as he was killed 11 years before Iwas born. My father has told me about him however. He was the"ballplayer" in the family. He was a thirdbaseman. I was nevera thirdbaseman but Brooks Robinson was always my favoriteplayer. Homer was shorter than most of the other Cornelisonsbut his answer to this was that at least he could bend over topick a grounder. He played for a team out of Amarillo. It wassimilar to a minor league franchise. Sometime in the late1920's he took a job at th Gin in Sayre, Oklahoma. Hemarshalled for a time before this. When he took the job inSayre, it provided a place for his children to grow up. Afterthe death of his brother, George A., he helped run the familyfarm. In 1943, while his sons were in the service, he and hisbrother Archie Porter were killed while walking across a bridgeby a drunk driver.
