Willem Hubert Pijls (Maastricht, 28 februari 1819 - aldaar, 6 februari 1903) was Nederlandse politicus. Hij was burgemeester van Maastricht van 1861 tot 1867 en van 1873 tot 1900. Willem Hubert Pijls werd in Maastricht geboren op 28 februari 1819 als zoon van Jan Antoon Pijls (koopman te Maastricht) en Antoinetta Voncken. De inschrijving van hun zoon Willem in het geboorte register van de stad Maastricht vond eerst plaats op 6 juli 1820, de oorzaak van deze late inschrijving was de zakenreis van zijn vader. W.H. Pijls huwde op 4 augustus 1845 Met Helene Adrienne Maurissen geboren op 25 maart 1816, overleden op 6 januari 1864. Zij was de dochter van Adrianus Michael Maurissen (koopman te Wijck-Maastricht) en Anna Catharina Oda Coenegracht.
Loopbaan
Pijls, door hemzelf consequent als "Pyls" geschreven, was tevens raadslid (1851-1899) en wethouder van financiën in Maastricht (1867-1873). Na de dood van zijn vader nam hij in 1842 zijn zeepziedersbedrijf over. Hij studeerde aan het college Beauregard in Luik en vergaarde een fortuin met zijn bedrijf en aandelen in Duitse spoorwegmaatschappijen. Onder zijn bewind werd het Maastrichtse Villapark aangelegd, met als intentie de rijke Maastrichtse burgers binnen de gemeente te houden.
