Geschiedenis Blauwhuis
Blauwhuis is ontstaan omstreeks 1640, toen het Sensmeer werd drooggelegd. Op de plaats waar nu het Teatskehùs staat, werd een polderhuis gebouwd met blauwe dakpannen (vandaar de naam Blauwhuis). Dit huis werd eerst gebruikt voor de bijeenkomsten van het polderbestuur. Vanaf 1651 werd het huis gebruikt als "schuil-kerk" voor katholieken uit de wijde omgeving. Er werden huizen rond de "kerk" gebouwd en pastoor Adam Petri vestigde zich hier.
Het "Blauhùs" werd te klein voor de kerkdiensten. In 1871 werd de nieuwe St. Vituskerk opgeleverd, getekend door architekt P.J.H. Cuypers. Vanaf die tijd werd Blauwhuis groter: huizenbouw, school en bedrijven zorgden ervoor dat het een levendige gemeenschap werd. Toch was Blauwhuis tot 1949 nog geen officieel dorp, maar een buurtschap onder Westhem. In 1949 kreeg Blauwhuis de officiele dorpsstatus en is het uitgegroeid tot het dorp zoals we dat nu kennen.
