Toen Margaretha (Greet) Zouteriks-Raaijmakers zwanger was van haar vierde dochter werd de zorg voor de drie dochters te zwaar. Daarom werden ze tot na de
bevalling uit logeren gestuurd. Gerda ging naar mijn grootouders in Zevenaar, Riet ging naar haar grootouders Zouteriks in Leiden en Will naar de andere grootouders Raaijmakers in Den Bosch.
Kort na de bevalling van de vierde dochter stierf de moeder. Omdat de vader Theo Zouteriks de zorg voor de kinderen niet aankon bleven de meisjes op de adressen waar ze logeerden en keerden nooit meer naar huis terug.
Zo bleef mijn tante Gerda tot kort na de oorlog bij mijn grootouders in huis. Toen vertrok ze een half jaar met haar zussen naar hun vader Theo in Londen. Uit heimwee kwam ze in 1946 terug naar huis in Zevenaar. Ze vond werk als analiste/apothekersassistente bij een huisarts in Naaldwijk en verhuisde daarheen. Hier leerde ze de zusters dominicanessen kennen, die een klooster hadden aan de overkant van de straat waar ze woonde. Eind 1947 nam ze voor zichzelf de beslissing om in te treden en keerde nog kort naar Zevenaar terug.
Op 24 november 1948 trad ze in het klooster in Neerbosch en ontving in mei 1949 de naam Zr. Maria Marguerite. Na haar noviciaat werd ze op 16 mei 1950 geprofest. Ze werd verplaatst naar Amsterdam en kreeg de opdracht om voor kleuterleidster te studeren. Ze werkte op de kleuterschool van de zusters in Amsterdam en legde op 16 mei 1953 haar eeuwige geloften af.
Later volgden aanstellingen als kleuterleidster in Nijmegen-Neerbosch en Den Haag. Vervolgens kreeg ze opdracht theologie te studeren en werd na afloop daarvan in 1969 katechese-onderwijzeres in Nijmegen west. Vervolgens werkte ze van 1976 tot 1980 als distriktskatechete in Nijmegen zuid.
Van 1981 tot 1992 was ze pastoraal werkster en katechese-onderwijzeres in Tiel. Daarna werd ze plaatsvervangend algemeen overste en econome van
de congregatie. Deze bestuursfunctie vervulde ze tot 2000.
