Geschiedenis De Jong constructiewerkplaats:

1892
Firma H. de Jong wordt opgericht en vestigt zich aan de Varkenmarkt 5 te Dordrecht.
De Jong start als een smederij waarbij de werkzaamheden hoofdzakelijk bestonden uit het beslaan van paarden en houten wielen voorzien van stalen banden.
1935
De directie wordt overgenomen door 3 zoons. Dirk, Cees en Siem de Jong.
De werkzaamheden omvangen inmiddels het vervaardigen van Kipconstructies op vrachtwagen chassis.
1968
Verhuizing van de Varkenmarkt 5 naar de Grevelingenweg 12 op het toen nieuw aangelegde industrieterrein “De Staart”.
Tevens wordt het bedrijf in dit jaar overgenomen door John en Henny de Jong, de zonen van Dirk en Cees.
Het bedrijf verandert steeds meer in een allround constructiewerkplaats waarbij de klanten voornamelijk uit de aannemerij komen.
1976
Henny de Jong verongelukt en John de Jong zet het bedrijf alleen voort.
1982
Harry Peters stapt in het bedrijf en gaat de directie samen met John de jong voeren.
Naast staalconstructies voor de bouw worden er steeds meer werkzaamheden uitgevoerd voor de industrie.
1988
Harry Peters neemt het bedrijf in zijn geheel, John de Jong verlaat het bedrijf.
