In a paper on the Ratchfords that I (WRC) received from Aunt Fannie Ratchford (16117) in 1960 there is this about George's wife: "His wife Margaret Lee Wylie was the daugh-[327, “Ratchfords...I Reckon”, Wilma Ratchford Craig, Gateway Press, Baltimore, Maryland, ©1971, Library of Congress Card Catalog No. 75-180719.] ter of Dr. James Wylie, 1756-January 2, 1827, and his wife Nancy Lee Wylie, 1757-June 21, 1837, who came to America from County Antriam, Ireland, after the Revolutionary War. They lived in York District, and are buried in what is now known as Cherokee County, in a country cemetery. As well as I (Aunt Fannie -16117) can recall a story my father, Major James Wylie Ratchford, told me when I was small, Nancy Lee was the daughter of a Scotch-Irish nobleman of North Ireland, who eloped with a young Belfast physician, James Wylie, and was disinherited. Papa several times had inquiries about an estate and title awaiting his claim--probably phonies."
