Ada, Countess of Atholl in her own right; married John of Strathbogie,Earl of Atholl in right of his wife; son of David Strathbogie (3rd son ofDuncan, Earl of Fife, Justiciar of Scotland, who granted David the landsof Strathbogie, one of five districts of Aberdeenshire) and died (as didher husband) between 1254 and Christmas 1264. ADA, suo jure Countess of Atholl, daughter and heir. She married John ofStrathbogie, son and heir of David, who was 3rd son of Duncan, earl ofFife [Scotland]. By this match her husband became, in her right, Earl ofAtholl, and, as such, he, with his Countess, in 1254, confirmed adonation made by the father of of the latter to the monastery of Coupar.[Complete Peerage I:305, (transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]
