RESEARCH: We do not think this Margaret is the daughter of Benjamin Hickman and Rebecca Benton, but rather that her maiden name is GRISSETT. Her oldest daughter's (Mary Ann Gore) death certificate states her mother maiden name is Grissett. On the death certificate of other children it is stated as Hickman. The confusion in the family may have arisen from the fact that Mary Ann Gore was briefly married to Jackson Hickman and had a daughter Mary "Margaret" Hickman in 1866 who in the household of Isaac Gore in the 1870 census.
