He [John de Vere] married, 1stly, Margaret, sister of Richard (NEVILLE),EARL OF WARWICK AND SALISBURY, and daughter of Richard (NEVILLE), EARL OFSALISBURY, by Alice, daughter of Thomas (MONTAGU), 4th EARL OF SALISBURY.She died after 20 November 1506, and was buried at Colne Priory. Hemarried, 2ndly, between 28 November 1508 and 10 April 1509, Elizabeth,widow of William, 2nd VISCOUNT BEAUMONT, and daughter and coheir of SirRichard SCROPE (2nd son of Henry, 4th LORD SCROPE of Bolton), by Eleanor,daughter of Norman WASHBOURNE. He died s.p.s., probably s.p., 10 March1512/3, at Hedingham Castle, and was buried 24 April, at Colne Priory.The Countess survived him, and was in favour at Court. She died 26 June1537, and was buried at Wivenhoe. [Complete Peerage X:239-44,(transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]
