    Obituary for Edward Stokes
    Edward Kenneth Stokes Mr. Stokes, 71, of Charlotte, NC died Monday, April 9, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, April 13, 2012 in the Hankins & Whittington Chapel, 1111 East Blvd with the Reverend Robbie Page officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 1:00 PM prior the service on Friday. Private interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Mr. Stokes, a Charlotte native, was the son of Oma Honeycutt of Charlotte and the late Francis Marion Stokes. He attended Harding High School and Charlotte Catholic High School. A former member of the Marine Corp Reserve, he was a 32nd degree mason, member of the East Gate Lodge #692, Oasis Temple and the Scottish Rites Bodies. Mr. Stokes was also member of Sharon Baptist Church. He was a businessman, an investor and a co-owner of S & R Wrecker Service Inc. and S & R Auto and Truck Salvage. In addition to his mother, Mr. Stokes is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Lisa Frye (Eddie); son, Bryan Church (Wendy); step-father, James Honeycutt; aunt, Becky Stokes Smith; grandchildren, Koty, Hunter, Taylor, and Sierra; step-children, Pamela Haan (Jeff) and Scott Morgan (Susan); and four step-grandchildren, Andrea, Joseph, Wesley and William. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Doris Sturdivant for her loving care and attention to Mr. Stokes over the past year. Memorials may be sent to Sharon Baptist Church, 6411 Sharon Road, Charlotte, NC 28210 or Shriner?s Hospital for Crippled and Burned Children, c/o Oasis Temple of the Shrine, 604 Doug Mayes Place, Charlotte, NC 28262 or St. Jude?s Children?s Research Hospital, 332 N Lauderdale St., Memphis, TN 28100.
