1 -11 Ann Ratchford, married McCarra and is named in both her father and mother's wills. In the Macie McAliley Records copied by her from notes in the possession of Elise Latimer Atkinson (16316) of Winnsboro, South Carolina, is the note that Eliz­abeth McCarra, a sister of George Ratchford (16) was born 28 Dec 1790. I have looked in Gaston, Lincoln, Mecklen­burg, Rowan Counties, North Carolina and in York and Chester Coun­ties, South Carolina, but can find no McCarra.

1 -12 Jean Ratchford, married Jewell and is named in both her father and mother's wills.
Some people say Jewell and Fewell names were interchange­able at one time. There are many Fewells in the York Co, South Carolina area. In checking through the wills in York Co, South Carolina, I (WRC) could locate no Jean Ratchford Fewell. Several wills, however, mentioned "my wife", but gave no name. Macie McAliley's records say "Jean (Jennet) married a [414, “Ratchfords...I Reckon”, Wilma Ratchford Craig, Gateway Press, Baltimore, Maryland, 1971. (c) 1971, Library of Congress Card Catalog No. 75-180719.] Mr. Fewell".
