Arvil Lee Spears, 81, Orange City, Florida, formerly of the Bethelridge Community passed away Monday February 16th, 2004 at his residence.
He was born September 24th, 1922 in Ansel, Kentucky the son of the late Theodore Spears and Vida Spears. He was a United States Army WWII Veteran, a POW, as well as attaining the rank of Corporal, a machinist for Corning Glass Works, Danville, Kentucky, a member of Franklin Lodge #28 F & AM, a member of York Rite, Danville, Kentucky and a member of the Lake Helen United Methodist Church.
He is survived by one son; Arvis Richardson Spears, Danville, Kentucky: two daughters; Anna Carolyn Spears Broce, St. Petersburg, Florida and Alice Rebecca Spears Smith, Deltona, Florida: one step brother; Ken Wesley; one half brother; Arnold Spears: one step sister; Lillian Wesley: four half sisters; Kay Wesley, Betty Spears, Sondra Drury and Faye Wesley: five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: his wife; Avelene Godbey Spears, who passed away September 7th, 2000.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., at the Bethelridge United Methodist Church, Bethelridge, Kentucky with Brother Brian Janes and Chaplain Richard Otto officiating. Burial will be in Bethelridge Cemetery, Bethelridge, Kentucky. Visitation will be after 6:00 p.m., Friday, February 20th, 2004 at the Chapel of Morris and Hislope Funeral Home. Military honors will be given by American Legion Post #18 of Stanford, Kentucky. Masonic services will be 7:00 p.m., Friday. February 20th, 2004 by Mt. Gilead Lodge #255 of Science Hill.
