    Verne Oscar Jencks was born July 15, 1908 south of Cheyenne, OK to Hulda Johanna and Charles Abel Jencks and passed away August 19, 1992 in the Cordell Care Center at the age of 84 years, 1 month and 4 days.
    Verne married Nettie Rose Marshall on July 27, 1928 in Cheyenne, OK. they lived in the Cheyenne community before moving to El Centro, CA in 1947. They moved to Sayre in 1961 before moving to Elk City in 1979 to make their home. Verne had always been a farmer.
    He was a member of the Church of God since the age of 12.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter, 1 son, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
    Services were at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 1992 at the Rose Chapel officiated by Ray Smart. Internment was in the Sayre-Doxey Cemetary under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Services.
    Survivors are his wife, Nettie, Elk City; 6 daughters, Margarette Baker, Houston, TX; Marie Ferguson, Cordell, OK; Rose Sweetman, Denver, CO; Louise Schweyer, Clarksville, AR; Opal Woods, Elk City; Christene Jone, Gallup, NM; 3 sons; J.T. Jencks, Boise, ID; Evert Jencks, Elk City; Steve Jencks, Naperville, IL; 1 sister, Esther Dooty, Cheyenne, OK; 30 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson.
