The Horry Herald, Conway, SC April 15, 1876
Near Green Sea in Horry County, April 8th, Mrs. Anna Jane Harrelson, wife
of Edward W. Harrelson, aged 47 years. She was the daughter of John and
Kesiah Todd, and the mother of 15 children and 12 grandchildren. She was
a consistent member of the Baptist Church for 27 years, and her moral
virtues and consistent piety shone forth more beautifully in her
teachings in the family circle, and the respectable character of her
offspring. To the husband, manhood's sympathy is offered. "Soft eyes are
seen no more That made Spring time in your heart." To her children, then
"Linger then yet awhile, As the last leaves on the bough; Ye have loved
the light of her smile, That is taken from you now." "There has been a
sweet lingering voice, In your walks that now is still, There are seats
left void in your earthly homes Which no other again may fill.: M.C.
