    Bij een Frans discreet van 18 augustus 1811 werd ieder hoofd van een gezin verplicht zich met een vaste familienaam in te laten schrijven in de gemeente waar hij woonachtig was. Bij geboorten, huwelijken en overlijden diende men de lokale autoriteiten daarvan op de hoogte te stellen, die daarvan akten opmaakten, hetgeen tot op heden het geval is.
    Pijr hanteerde vanaf de geboorte van zijn één na jongste zoon Pieter in 1807 de naam Visser in plaats van Bakker, de naam van zijn beroep.
